Washington Electrical Contractor License Requirements
Washington electrical contracting is a separate L&I licensing path. Do not treat it as the same thing as general construction contractor registration.

Electrical license vs. construction contractor registration
Electrical construction businesses must get an electrical contractor license from L&I. General electrical (01) contractors may perform all electrical and telecommunications installations; specialty electrical contractors are limited to categories in WAC 296-46B-920(2).
If the same business performs non-electrical construction work, contractor registration may also apply. That is why electrical contractors should not rely only on the general contractor registration guide.
What continuing education does L&I list?
24 hours every 3 years: 8 hours NEC changes, 4 hours RCW/WAC, and 12 hours other approved continuing education.
What bond or insurance record does L&I keep?
L&I lists an original $4,000 electrical contractor surety bond or assignment of savings. For liability insurance, L&I encourages electrical contractors to carry coverage but does not keep liability insurance records for electrical contractors.
